WELLINGTON WIN
MATCH WITH TARANAKI
P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. | Played on Saturday at New Ply-i mouth for the first time in 33 years, the J representative Rugby match between | Wellington and Taranaki, usually played at Havvera, was won by Wei- j lington by 13 points to 9. Welling-1 ton's strength lay in ability to hook the ball from set scrums and in the speed of the backs, served magnificently by Tindill. Wellington took com-1 mand of play from the outset, but thei Taranaki forwards were dangerous mi loose rushes later in the spell and | early in the second half. Wellington's defence, however, was sound, and the backs carried too many guns. For Wellington Burke, Morrison, and Wickham each scored a try, and Morrison (who captained the side) kicked a field goal. For Taranaki Whitham scored a try and Cronin kicked two penalty goals. j
