The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Fisher, welcoming Archbishop Damaskinos. Regent of Greece, in Canterbury Cathedral, r.aid that it was the first time in the history of the Cathedral and of the Church of England that the Archbishop of Canterbury had been privileged to welcome the head of the Holy Orthodox Church of Greece.

He paid a tribute to the leadership and spiritual inspiration which Archbishop Damaskinos had given the country during the war and his noble way of shouldering his heavy burdens as Regent. -
