BERLIN'S V.P. PARADE
ZHUKOV TAKES SALUTE
BERLIN, September 7
Marshal Zhukov took the salute from the troops of the four Allies in the Tiergarten in an official V.P. parade. It was the first parade in which all four occupying Powers participated. Marshal Zhukov, who was resplendent in a blue uniform with three 14-inch rows of medals, was flanked by Britain's Lieutenant-General Robertson, America's General Patton. and France's General Koeltz. The parade was led by the Soviet Guards battalions, which captured Hitler's Chancellery and the Reichstag. Units of the Queen's, the Deyons, and the Durhams marched between the Russians and the Americans. Fifty armoured vehicles of each nation followed, including the new British 25-ton Comet tanks, and the Russians' 65-tomiers. "
Marshal Zhukov, in a speech, urged an organisation of a just, enduring, and complete peace.
