TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Auckland won the quadrangular ititcrproviticial table tennis tournament for tin? Kettn Challenge $hleld, which began on Friday evening, between teams representing Auckland, Wellington, Halt Valley, and Canterbury. Detailed results were:— Auckland beat Canterbury, !l-3; Wellington | beat Mutt Valley. 9-3 ; Uutt Valley and Auckland drew, G matches, 13 sets all-; Hutt Valley beat Canterbury, 9-3; Wellington beat Canterbury, 9-3; Auckland beat Wellington, 3-4. Women's Section.—Wellington beat Hutt Valley. 10-2. The programme for the New Zealand championship tournament. which commences tonight at the Boys' Institute, is:— At 7 o'clock: Men's singles championship, boys' and junior boys' singles. Tuesday night: Women's singles ami mixed doubles. Wednesday night : Men's doubles, women's doubles, girls' and junior girls' singles. Thursday night, at 7.30 o'clock, in the Town Hall: Semi-finals and final of men's singles and the finals of all other events.' In (he first night's play on Friday Wellington beat, Canterbury. 9-3, and Auckland drew with Hutt Valley, 6 matches, 55 sets all. Borough, of Canterbury, displayed exceptional defensive ability in defeating both Boniface, present Wellington champion, and Crossley, former Wellington champion.
