CROSSING ACCIDENT

The Masterton rail-car which left Wellington at 6.4 p.m. yesterday was involved in a collision with a truck on the level crossing just north of Heretaunga. The driver of the truck, Gordon Leighton, aged 19, received wounds to his face and legs and concussion, and was taken to the Hutt Hospital, where his condition this morning was reported to be satisfactory. The truck was severely damaged, but the rail-car, which was only slightly damaged, proceeded on its way after being held up for half an hour.
