UNITED NATIONS

ORGANISATION SPEED-UP

LONDON, September 7

The Executive Committee of the United Nations Preparatory Commission met in London today, and Mr. Stettinius made a suggestion on behalf of the United States aimed at getting the United Nations Organisation going with the least possible delay. He suggested that the Preparatory Commission itself should meet earlier than the middle of next month and that the United Nations Assembly should hold a business meeting earlier than the middle of November. Both meetings should be held in London, and Mr. Stettinius said that the business meeting should be asked to call the first regular annual meeting of the assembly next spring. The British Minister of State, Mr. Baker, the chairman of the sub-com-mittee of the United Nations organisa-, tion which is to make arrangements for the first meeting of' the General Assembly, said today that he would like it to be held in April, the anniversary of the first United Nations Conference at San Francisco.
