NEW Y.W.C.A. PROJECT
MUFTI CLUB'S ACTIVITIES
~ The Mufti Club, which was established last June as a new project of the Y.W.C.A., has been making steady progress in its entertainment of demobilised servicemen. Started as a club with a membership of 60 girls who were on the waiting list of the Y.F.H. (Hospitality Club for Servicemen) its aims are to provide recreation for the men who are no longer required for military service.
The club's programme each night comprises a talk, bridge lessons, dancing lessons, and dancing. Officials of the R.S.A. and Home Servicemen's Association are interested in this venture and hope the men will take advantage of all the services the club has to offer.
The 60 girls are divided into five teams with a leader, and each team takes a night in turn when they act specially as hostesses, attend to the supper, arranging of programme, clearing up, etc. The full responsibility for the running of the club is entirely in the hands of the members. As the girls were not known to one another, it was decided not at first to have officers, so a provisional committee of the leaders of the teams has been set up meantime. After three months, a special general meeting will be held, when rules for the club will be drawn up, and officers and a committee elected. It is then expected that sub-committees for programmes, etc., will be formed when there will be representatives from the men as well as the girls. ' : ,
