A severe frost was experienced this morning, but it was beautifully tine, and the tracks in good order, for training operations. However, what galloping was done was confined to local horses. Three Debutant Stakes candidatesGay Tide (Chote). Enard Bay (Miss Jackson), ana AIJ Bay (Howe) — sprinted three furlongs, All Bay finishing half a length in front of Enard Bay, with Gay Tide two lengths back, the time being 39sec. Stdny Broke, none the worse for his race at New Plymouth, was restricted to three-quarter-pace work. Derryogue, with a lightweight in the saddle, slipped over half a mile in 50 l-ssec, hitting out freely. Lambro (Miss Jackson), Master Francis (Howe), and Michael (Chote) were companions in a run over seven furlongs. Michael dropped in behind at the start, Master Francis setting the pace. He led to the three furlongs, where the others closed up, and in the run home Michael, on the outer, finished a length ahead of Lambro, with Master Francis close up, the time being 1.34 1-5. It was Michael's first attempt over the distance, and the Guineas candidate got through his task well. He is to contest' the maiden on Saturday. Behave, Glamour Girl, Good Effort, Red Chief, Hulabaloo, Mr. Pym, Court Crier, and Light Fantastic were let off with useful pace work. Mr. Pym' has a slight cold, but he is expected to be all right for his Debutant Stakes engagement. PL Chote has been engaged to ride Gay Tide, Michael, Kilarney Boy, and Master Francis on Saturday. G. Ivil's mounts will include Hulabaloo, Lord Coronach, Tideless, Mr. I Pym, and Behave.
