P.A. AUCKLAND, September 4. After almost three years in New Zealand, Lieutenant-Colonel Lloyd Nickerson, United States Marine Corps, special representative in New. Zealand ■ of the commander, South Pacific, is | shortly to return to the United States on duty. Lieutenant-Colonel Nicker- I son said that his office would be continued for some titne after he had gone. Lieutenant-Colonel Nickerson came to Auckland as a battle casualty from the Solomons, where, in August, 1942, he commanded the first wave of the assault on Tulagi by the First Marine Raider Battalion.
