A demonstration concert tonight, to be.attended by the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall) and Lady Newall, will conclude the 1945 festival of the Wellington Competitions Society, the competitive sections of whictti ended last night. At tonight's concert a selection of. prize-winning competitors will combine in the evening's entertainment. Further praise for the standard of women's singing was given by Mr. L. Leech (Dunedin) when he announced tha result of tho contralto test solo in which Miss Merlyn Todd (Christchurch) beat Miss Mona Ross (Cambridge). Both were outstanding, the adjudicator said, demonstrating great poise in masterly interpretations of a difficult song.
