(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, August 31. Nearly 4000 battle-tried New Zealanders had a delayed VJ celebration when they arrived unannounced in Melbourne yesterday. They came in the famous liner Strathaird. Most of them were veterans of the Middle East and Italian campaigns. From 4 p.m. when they left the ship, until closing time at 6 p.m., every hotei in the city was packed with New Zealanders. The men flocked into cafes for steak and eggs. Many of them said they had made small fortunes on the Rome black market, where a 9d packet of cigarettes i was bringing five or six shillings. j
