The Regent, Archbishop Damaskinos, granted an audience to the leaders, of the Populist Party (Monarchists), who stressed the Importance of holding a plebiscite before the General Elections, in accordance with the Varizka agreement, and opposed the proposal for a general amnesty, on the ground . that an amnesty would shake confidence in the country's justice. Mr. Peter Gournarakis has been appointed Greek Minister of the Interior. Admiral Voulgaris previously held the portfolio. Rec. 9 a.m. ATHENS', August 31. , Archbishop Damaskinos will travel to London by air on September 6. He will confer with members of th« British Government and King George of Greece. His visit coincides with th« first meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers.
