STRONG FORCE

BRITISH WARSHIPS AT HONG

KONG

HONG KONG, August 31.1 A strong British naval force, commanded by Rear-Admiral Harcourt in the cruiser Swiftsure, yesterday entered the port of Hong Kong to reoccupy Britain's Crown colony. The force included the aircraft-carriers Indomitable and Venerable, the battleship Anson, three cruisers, six destroyers, a submarine depot ship, eight submarines, a hospital ship, and seven minesweepers. The ships are carrying special medical supplies for the prisoners of war and interned civilians, and additional naval personnel to take over the port and restore it to full working order.
