LABOUR M.P/S TRIBUTE
Fox the part it was playing in assisting the rehabilitation of returned servicemen private enterprise was commended by Mr. E. L. Cullen (Government, Hawke's Bay) in his Budget speech in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr. Cullen, who is a member of the Rehabilitation Board, said that private enterprise certainly did have a place in the general scheme- of things in New Zealand, although he did hold there were some things private enterprise could not accomplish. Generally speaking, however, the farmers, business people, manufacturers, and other private individuals had given the greatest assistance in training men, giving them employment, and assisting them on to farms or into whatever businesses they favoured. , Mr. W. S. Goosman (National, Waikato): You will want to stand for the National Party next time. Mr. Cullen: I don't think my religion would allow me to adopt the policy of the National Party. I don't like their type of political food.
