CHURCH LEADERS

TREATMENT IN POLAND

LONDON, August 31. The Vatican has received no news of Cardinal Hlond, Primate of Poland, since he returned there a month ago, says the "Daily Telegraph's" Rome correspondent. Disquiet is increased by the reported treatment of other Church leaders in Poland, including the arrest of the Bishop of Danzig and the deportation of the Bishop of Vilna to central Poland. . The President of Poland, Mr. Beirut, told the Soviet news agency that the problem of compensating Poland for lost territories in the east by an appropriate frontier in the west had been finally solved by Russia, though the need was recognised by both France' and Britain... Now Poland could a sea power again. The new frontiers settled forever differences between Poland and Russia. Nothing henceiorth would Impede the development of friendly relations between them. ,
