U.S. AND BRITAIN
LEND-LEASE POSITION
"BETTER UNDERSTANDING"
LONDON, August 29,
At a Press conference in Washington, the American Secretary of State, Mr. James Byrnes, said he thought there had been a much better understanding between Great Britain and the United States in the last few days on the entire situation following, the end of lendlease. Mr. Byrnes said his Government fully understood the British position and British needs would get sympathetic attention.
Lord Keynes, adviser to. the Treasury, will survey financial problems with "Canadian authorities at Ottawa next week before going on to Washington.
