TWO SCOTTISH M.P.'S

INVALIDATION OF ELECTION

RECOMMENDED

LONDON, August 25. A Select Committee of the House of Commons recommended that the election of Mr. John Forman and Mrs. Jean Mann, of Glasgow, for Springburn and Coatbridge respectively, at the recent ballot, should be invalidated on the ground that at the time both held offices under the Crown. The committee reported that it was satisfied that they had incurred disqualification inadvertently, and it recommended legislation to relieve them of pecuniary penalties and also to validate their election. Mr. Forman and Mrs. Mann, who are members of the Government Housing Committee in Glasgow, received a fee for each sitting of the committee.
