Not everyone is so fortunate as the man whose hat Avas Avhisked off his head by a gust of Avind in Auckland on Friday as he stepped out on to the platform of a tramcar prior to alighting. He caught a glimpse of it in the air and Avent back to search, but could find no trace. Then a passer-by told him, "I think your hat got caught on the front of an oil wagon and the driver didn't see it." Resigning himself to the loss of a good hat, the owner went on his way, but some minutes later a Avagon overtook him and the driver called out, "Have you lost a hat? I found this behind my numberplate and came back to look for you." The owner was almost too much surprised sufficiently to express his thanks for the prompt and kindly return of his property.
