N.Z. TOURNEY CONCLUDED

P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, August 26. The New Zealand basketball tourney concluded yesterday. Canterbury, the onjy unbeaten senior team in the tournament, won tlie New Zealand Cup outright, beating Auckland 25-21. The Annie Brown Cup, for the runner-up, was won by Otago, with 10 points. Auckland and j Wanganui each gained 6 points, Hawke's Bay and Southland 3, and Wellington 1. In the second grade, Manawatu again won the President's .Shield. Horowhenua and Wairoa were joint winners of the Kiwi Tropliy in the third grade, and Tauranga won the Armstrong Shield. Saturday's results were: — First Grade. —Canterbury 25, Auckland 21; Wanganui 23, Wellington 21; Southland 26, Hawke's Bay 20 ; Auckland 27, Hawke's Bay 19 ,* Otago 21, Southland 15. Second Grade. —Manawatu 21, Poverty Bay 13; Matamata 21, Taranaki 15; Manawatu 25, Ashburton 0; Hutt Valley 19, South Canterbury 19; Rotorua-Bay of Plenty 16, Poverty Bay 13; Rotorua-Bay of Plenty 20, Ashburton 6; South Canterbury 17, Matamata 11. Third Grade. —Tauranga 33, Canterbury Minor 5; Temuka 17, Buller 14. Third Grade.—Final: Horowhenua 20, Wairoa 20. The tournament concluded with an inter-island match, which tlie South Island won, 23-16, after a hard, fast game.
