"WINTERSET."
Tlie Welliu_lon Repertory Society's peifnrmp.nce of Maxwell Anderson's ■'Winterset" chew another largo audience to Hie Technical College Hall last night and proved an interesting aiid commendable effort, to present tin: famous piiiv. "Wintersel," one of the verse productions which Anderson ''has h.ru writing for some time, has some very strong and moving passages and some others which are wordy and not. particularly profound." But it is nu interesting play with marked merit in characterisation dialogue, philosophy, and suspense, and the tension mounts until the very end. This tale of the assembly of the principals in n long fln I shed murder case, of the conflict between their efforts to get at, and conceal the truth and tho ruthless action of the gangster who seeks to keep himself clear, is a memorable one. Tlie cast are well chosen, particularly Basil. Clarke as Troclc tho gangster, Lees Bullot as Judge Gaunt, and Stanley Vinsen as the older Esdras. .There is interesting work in difficult parts by Richard' Campion as Mio and Edith Hannah as Miriamne.
The play will be repealed'tonight and tomorrow evening.
