FEARED IN BENGAL
NEW SHORTAGE OF FOOD CALCUTTA, August _. The fear of a possible food shortage hangs over Bengal. The failure of the monsoon to bring sufficient rainfall has affected the transplanting of seedlings for the winter rice crop. Experts say that the next thre« weeks will be a critical period. Mass meetings have protested against the export of rice from Bengal to- the provinces. People have also demanded the lowering of the price of rice.
