MEANS OF PLACEMENT

Of the men and women of the Services recorded by the Rehabilitation Department as having returned to civil life, just less than one-third have returned to their pre-service employment, a little more than one-quarter have found new employment for themselves, and just less than a • quarter have been placed by the Rehabilitation Department. The Department's ! monthly statistical review says that 49,273 have been recorded with the Department as returned from service overseas and 29,112 as discharged from home service. Of the grand total of 78,385, as at the end of June, 15,087 had for various reasons not been discharged. During June 2«!21 were recorded !as having returned from overseas and 577 as having been discharged from service in New Zealand.
