KARORI CLUB'S MEETING

The- annual meeting of the Karori ■ Bowling Club on Tuesday was one oi \mc .largest on record. ■ Mr. W. H. ! Fisher presided until the presidential ,oadge.of office was passed to the new president, Mr. W. K. Danas. The retiring president said that last year the ! club had enjoyed a very good season. Again much had been done for patriotic causes, and it was a matter of gratiikation also that the green and surroundings had been, in such splendid order as to attract much favourable comment. Mr. Dallas said that among matters to be dealt with in the coming year would be the settrag up of a building fund and the carrying out of certain renovations. Appreciation was expressed of the good work clone toy Mr. and Mrs. Fisher. Officers were elected as follows:. President, Mr. W. X.1 Dallas; vice-presi-dent, Mr. R. Thomson; hon. secretary, Mr. C. Holden; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. H. Wyatt; centre delegate, Mr., A. Dempster; green superintendent, 'Mr. L. B. Oldaker; committee, Messrs. R. W. Cox. A. J. JDixon, F. H. Fredericks, J. K. Scobie, H. It. Stead, W. H. Thorn, and W. Wilkinson, with the centre delegate and the green superintendent; club coaches, Messrs. Wyatt and Fredericks; selectors, Messrs. F. Platt (Wednesday) .and Fredericks (Saturday); hon. auditor, Mr. H. W. Kelleher; publicity officer, Mr. R. R. Hornblow.

Special tributes to the long- and valued service given to the club and to the game by Mr. G. Crawford were paid, the president referring to Mr. Crawford's distinguished playing record as well as his notable contributions to the game in the preparation of greens and in coaching. Mr. Crawford was elected a life member of the club.

Decisions were made to increase the subscription to £4 4s and to open a building fund account. The move (or the provision of a community centre in Karon was supported.
