Major-General Pearkes. former Com-mander-in-Chief of the Canadian Pacific Command, revealed that the cruiser Uganda was returning from the Pacific because 500 men of her crew resented a request to volunteer for service in the Pacific, though originally they had volunteered for service anywhere.
