AMERICA CHEERED

INCIDENT IN ARGENTINA

Rec. 9 am

NEW YORK, July 24,

A crowd of prominent Argentinians, including two former Foreign Ministers, gathered at the railway station to pay a spontaneous tribute to the United States Ambassador, Mr. Braden, when he was returning from Santa Fe Province, says the "New York Times" Buenos Aires correspondent. _ The Argentinians, expressing repudiation of the personal attacks on Mr. Braden in the past few days, cheered him and the United States enthusiastically. The demonstration assumed such a clearly political character after Mr. Braden departed that the police had to disperse the crowd.

The Associated Press says it was a personal triumph for Mr. Braden. Observers considered the incident politically significant in view of the efforts of Peron's supporters to promote him as a presidential candidate.
