NOT YET RESTORED

SERVICES TO SOUTH

Telephone and telegraph communications with the South Island have not yet been restored to normal following the damage caused by the recent snow storm. The telegraph branch of the Wellington Post Office is in communication with Christchurch and Dunedin, mainly through radio channels, and Christchurch is in telegraph contact with some other towns south of it.

Telephone services between Wellington and places south of Christchurch have not yet been restored, but men are engaged on the task. There is telephone communication between Wellington and Christchurch itself.
