A JULY RECORD

TOTALISATOR TURNOVER

Being the first fixture to be held at Trentham since the close of the European war, there was a holiday spirit apparent on Saturday, and the turnover of £192,767 10s (win, £81,497 10s'; place, £111,270) was an increase over the opening day last year of £77,756. However, the weather was not particularly inviting last July, whereas it was excellent on this occasion. Actually, the turnover on Saturday set a fresh, record for a Wellington winter gathering, being £45,395 10s ahead of the 1943 figures.
