DUE TO DROUGHT
AUSTRALIAN SHEEP LOSSES Rec. 1 p.m. SYDNEY, June 26. The sheep lost in Australia because of drought are estimated at 20,000,000. Actual and potential losses of sheep and lambs through drought in New South Wales alone are estimated at 10,000,000. ' The Australian figure was given by retiring .president, Mr. J. Hunter Patterson, at the sixty-fifth annual convention of the Graziers' Federal Council of Australia. Addressing the convention, Mr. Patterson said the past Beason was one of the most disastrous Ever experienced in the grazing industry. Since most of the losses; comprise merino sheep, a big reduction m the most valuable part of Australia s wool clip would be the result. ; The financial loss, apart from its effect on producers, would embarrass •the Commonwealth Government s oversea financial arrangements. ■ The members of the constituent organisations comprising the Graziers Council own more than 57,000,000 sheep and nearly 4,000,000 cattle.
