Burning Belsen Camp. Colonel Bird, Allied commander at Belsen, gave the order for the camp to be burned, and flame-throwers were used to set the huts on fire. A rifle salute was fired in honour of the dead, and the Union Jack was hoisted as the flame-throwers set fire to the last hut.
