Regretting that he had created a misapprehension yesterday in referring to Major X" as the electoral officer- who had gone to the Middle East in 1943, Mr. D. Forsyth (Dunedin) made it clear to the conference of the N.Z.R.S.A. this morning that the reference intended was to an officer who went to the Pacific zone solely on election business and subsequently became a member of the association. Mb. Forsyth said the officer of the Middle East election had persistently refused to apply for membership.
