FIRE CUTS INTO CEREMONY

Ree. 12.45 p.m. NEW YORK, June 21. Fire broke out in the boiler room of the carrier Franklin (which was badly damaged in action on March 19), which is at present being repaired at Brooklyn Navy Yard, just as a mass presentation of awards was being made % to 139 officers and men. Captain Gehres interrupted the reading of a citation to order all engineering and damage control men to break ranks and help to put out the blaze. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. The damage was negligible.
