PUBLIC SERVICE

ASSOCIATION FUNCTION.

The New, Zealand Public Service Association's new staff appointees— Messrs. J. Turnbull, general secretary, H. Symons, assistant general secretary, and R. L. Meek, research officer, were introduced at a social gathering held by the association in the Public Service Women's Club rooms and organised by the women's committee of the Wellington section of the association. Most of the other service organisations were represented. The Acting Prime Minister (Mr. Nash) was present, and spoke briefly. Other*; who attended included the Public Service Commissioner (Mr. J. H. Boyes), the Assistant Public Service Commissioner (Mr. G. T. Bolt), and several other members of the commissioner's staff.

Mr. A. H. O'Keefe, president of the Public Service Asociation, introduced Messrs. Turnbull. Symons, and Meek. Mr. Turnbull replied on behalf of the new staff appointees, and Mr. Stan Roscoe,- Railway Officers' Institute, spoke on behalf of kindred organisations. ' Musical items, dances, and a sketch which satirised the proceedings before the consultative committee on Public Service salary scales added to the enjoyment of the, function.
