ESPIONAGE ALLEGED

WASHINGTON, June 7.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest on espionage charges of Naval Lieutenant Andrew Roth, specialist in the China Division of the State Department's Office of Far Eastern Affairs; E. S. Larsen, Foreign Service Officer in the State Department, recently stationed in China; Kate Louise Matchell and P. J. LafTe. coeditors of the magazine "Amerasia"; and Mark Julius Gayn, a free lance writer.

It is alleged that the accused stole highly secret documents and published material in "Amcrasia," which was established in 1937 for the study oi 1 Pacific affairs.
