ADMISSION TO U.S.A.
FIANCEES OF AMERICANS
NEW YORK, June 5,
A spokesman of the Immigration Service announced that Australia, New Zealand, and Gr N eck girls intending to marry servicemen will be admitted to the United States on visitors' visas provided they are acceptable to American consuls.
The spokesman stated that the three countries have small yearly immigration quotas —Australia and New Zealand 100, and Greece 307. American consuls will be permitted to grant visitors' visas providing the applicants can expect transportation within a reasonable time, are free from disease or moral defects, can procure birth, certificates, and demonstrate their definite intention to marry.
The girls, after marriage, will be granted permanent alien visas and allowed to take out citizenship papers.
The spokesman said the plan does not apply to countries with large annual quotas.
