The National Savings organiser addressed a staff meeting at the Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Company and reports to hand show that so far the staff have contributed £2683 to the 1945 Victory Loan through national savings, bonds, and stock This is a splendid effort and is indicative of the way in which employee groups are supporting the loan. Their efforts also include 100 per cent, increase in the number of national, savings accounts operating. Mr. C. H. Chapman, M.P., addressed the staff of the Hutt Railway Workshops and a resolution was passed resolving to achieve the quota of £1200 which they had fixed as their contribution to the loan. Mr. Chapman also reports that he has addressed other meetings of workers in factories and offices and the response was exceedingly gratifying.
Wellington has a very efficient organisation of business men under the chairmanship of Mr. S. W. Peterson, president of the Chamber of Commerce. This committee has appointed 40 sub-organisers who have divided business houses within the Wellington loan area into trade groups, each- of the 40 sub-organisers being responsible for making personal contact to each of those business houses on their particular list. Reports indicate that the response from this source will be very satisfactory. National savings organisers are being kept busy making addresses to staffs of business houses and factories, and the loan committee would appreciate the co-operation of business executives in arranging staff meetings.
