ROLE OF SUGAR COMPANY

Rec. 9 a.m. SYDNEY, June 1. The Minister of Labour, Mr. E. J. Holloway. had made a number of misstatements in his criticism of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, said the general manager of the company, Mr. Rothe.

The inferences that the company gave its employees no consideration were absolutely untrue. At no time had the company appealed against a judgment of the Arbitration Court Judge Piper in respect of any award made for sugar workers. A section of the employees at the Melbourne refinery had taken part in eight strikes or stoppages in the- past six months.
