PACIFIC SERVICE
Sir,—ln the Acting Prime Minister's statement regarding the replacement of long-service men, I notice he says that men of the reinforcement drafts will return in "their proper order and as the situation allows." My husband went overseas with the 11th Reinforcements but prior to that had served a year in the Pacific. I "hould therefore be glad of a definite assurance that his Pacific ccrvice will be taken into account when the time for his return to New Zealand approaches.—l am, etc., "A." Sir, —Several letters lately have been written regarding the early discharge of young men who have seen long service so that they may resume their apprenticeship and careers. Conspicious by absence is any reference to the lads who volunteered for service in the Navy (hostilities only) and R.N.V.R. lads who have served since September 3939, leaving these shores while only 18 years old. Surely after five and a half years of continuous iservice these boys should be allowed, now to learn a trade for their future welfare. —I am, etc., NAVY.
