MEDICAL CARE

PLAN IN AUSTRALIA

CANBERRA, May 23. The establishment throughout Australia of a group of clinics to be voluntarily attended by doctors is understood to have been recommended to the Commonwealth Government by the Parliamentary Committee on social security. The committee's report, which will be presented to Parliament during the present session, is expected to advocate the construction of the American system of group clinics. It is proposed that the doctors attending these clinics should receive payment for the number of hours of their attendance. Such clinics would be introduced in cities and industrial centres. A minority report will recommend the appointment of State doctors in opposition to the doctors in private practice . The State doctors would receive salaries instead of fees, and would be distributed throughout the Commonwealth.
