SWEEPING OF GERMAN WATERS

Rec. 12.40 p.m. RUGBY,. May 20. British minesweepers operating from Cuxhaven are now clearing the Elbe and the approaches to Hamburg, says a SHAEF correspondent. The entrances to Wilhelmshaven, Kiel, Bremerhaven and Wesermunde are already clear of mines. The Kiel Canal is free of obstructions and it is believed free of mines, but German minesweepers under Allied control are sweeping it as a precaution. Large quantities of ammunition were found in the Cuxhaven area.—B.O.W.
