DUNKIRK ANTI-CLIMAX
LONDON. May 20. The last chapter of Dunkirk was the most fantastic of all, says the correspondent of the British United Press at Dunkirk. A British working party with one vehicle took over the famous town from 12.000 Germans. Dunkirk was the most heavily mined area in the world. The Germans, after evacuating all civilians, prepared to make the British pay dearly for the capture of the town beaches, which are sacred soil for Britain. They lived all winter amid fantastic desolation, waiting for their last stand. They established a flour mill and a harvester and grew vegetables, thus being able to save up their army rations for the grim siege which never came.
