ANOTHER CHANGE

NAft ADMINISTRATION

YON RIBBENTROP OUSTED

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrioht.) Rec. 12.45 p.m. LONDON, May 2. According to Hamburg radio, yon Ribbentrop has .been superseded as Foreign Minister and poenitz has appointed the former Finance Minister, Count Schwerin von.Krosigk to the Foreign Ministry. The appointment of Count yon Krosigk as German Foreign Minister is welcomed in Stockholm because it is believed that the move will hasten the end of the wal, says the British United Press correspondent. It is not known what has happened to yon Ribbentrop. Count Krosigk, who is a Rhodes Scholar, never belonged to the Nazi Party, and has been described as a colourless official He was a member of Pastor Niemoller's Confessional Church, and tried to help the pastor during his trial. Krosigk never concealed that he was only serving Hitler as Finance Minister in the early, days because he felt it his duty to prevent the financial upset of Germany. He disliked both Goering and Himmler. On the other hand, he never openly protested against the Nazis' excesses because, in his own words, "It is not easy to jump from an express train going at full speed." Reuters Continental observer says: "The appointment of Krosigk strongly suggests that Doenitz is preparing his own surrender negotiations. Doenitz believes he might have a better chance than Himmler to gain some concessions from the Western allies, since Krosigk is not so obviously connected with the party. Ribbentrop is so detested in Britain and the United States that he would ■be useless for the task of negotiating surrender." Broadcasting over Hamburg radio, Krosigk said: "In Germany's' most tragic hour, I turn to the public. The world is still echoing to the dm of weapons, and German men are still falling in their last-fight to defend the Fatherland. A great stream of des-, perate, famished people in the streets of towns still unoccupied is in flight from an indescribable terror, pursued by fighter-bombers. The iron curtain in the east continues to advance while the work of destruction goes on behind. "In San Francisco they are deliberatI ing on the organisation of a new world order to give mankind security against a new war. The world knows that

a third world war will not bring the fall of one nation but the end of humanity. Terrible weapons which there has been no time to apply in this war would take full effect in a third war and sow death and destruction."
