FORGERY ADMITTED
Herbert Stanley Sidney Higgins, soldier, 20, was charged in the Magistrate's Court yesterday with making a false "Order by a Depositor" addressed to the Postmaster at Wellington, purporting to be signed by J. P. J. Griffin, knowing it to be false and thereby committing forgery. He was also charged with making a false withdrawal receipt for £80, also purported to be signed by J. P. J. Griffin, thereby committing forgery. Evidence was given that Griffin's Post Office Savings Bank book had been stolen from htm at Palmerston North and that the accused had presented withdrawal forms at the Wellington office., He pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
