WASHINGTON, April 29
American troops have captured Baguio, the summer capital, of the Philippines. The United States - casualties were amazingly light. This is announced in General MacArthur's communique. The enemy considered Baguio impregnable. Members of the Filipino collaborationist Govern,ment who took refuge there have surrendered or fled.
The 24th Division has completed the crossing of Mindanao from the west coast and reached Davao Gulf, near Digos. The speed of this'advance, followiag a surprise landing, prevented .the enemy from offering serious resistance. T
