AUCKLAND GAS STRIKERS
P.A. AUCKLAND, This Day. After being on strike since noon on Thursday retort house workers at the Auckland gasworks .resumed at noon today. It is expected that a limited supply will be available for household needs on Monday, possibly in time for breakfast.
A further conference was held this morning between the Acting Minister of Labour (Mr. O'Brien) and the disputes committee of the Auckland Trades Council, and the results were reported to a further meeting of the workers. A decision was then mhde to resume work at midday. The manager of the gas company, Mr. R. Worley, states that gas will not be available for industrial purposes on Monday unless users are notified during the weekend, and at present the possibility of this service being resumed seems remote.
