Defence Will Alter War Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, April 23. "The struggle foi our very existence has reached a climax." declared Hitler in a message to Mussolini, according to the German radio. Hitler added: "In a» sprrit of tenacious defence, the German people and all animated with a kindred spirit, will yet halt the onslaught, however severe the struggle may be, and alter the course of the war by their unparalleled heroism at the moment when the fate of Europe is being decided for centuries."
