i r.!Th? PS" 3. 1 meeting of the Hataitai Plunket Society will be held tomorrow, April 24, at 10.30 a.m., in the I Plunket rooms, Waipapa Road. All mothers and friends are cordially invited. Porirua's Good Start. The Porirua "Women's Institute's first meeting of the year was well attended. Mrs. Thompson, president, thanked the residents of Porirua and Titahi Bay for their generous response to the appeal for garments for Greece. Letter? were read from local soldiers overseas expressing their appreciation of Christmas parcels. Programmes for the coming months were arranged. A short talk on gardening was given by Mrs. Mutch, and the best flower in the garden competition was won by Mrs Daniels. Residential Nursery's Friends. At a recent meeting of the executive of the Residential Nursery, W.N.R., feeling reference was made to the passing or Mrs. Peter Fraser. The chairwoman said that Mrs. Fraser had always taken a great and practical interest in the nursery and in the other work of the W.N.R., and her interest and support would be very much missed. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Thanks were expressed for monetary gifts from the following:—Lyall Bay branch, £18; Khandallah-Ngaio branch, £12; Lower Hutt branch, £2; and Mrs.. Bullock, ss. Deep appreciation was also expressed of the legacy of £10 received from the late Miss Helen Wiltshire. Miss Wiltshire was honorary treasurer for the nursery fbr a number of years and also a keen officer of. the Island Baybranch. Brooklyn Townswomen. The Brooklyn Townswomen's Guild at its annual meeting recently elected the following officers:—Chairman, bMrs. Gay Smith; deputy chairman, Mrs. M. Thwaites; honorary secretary, Mrs. R. Christison; honorary treasurer, Mrs. T. Thompson; committee, Mesdames Ball Greave. Hyder, Thomas, Russell, Vial, Pett. Thwaites. Albert and Carran and Miss Burrell. The Outgoing officers and committee were sincerely thanked for their services to the guild and presented with floral sprays. Mrs. Thomson a member who recently celebrated her golden wedding, was presented with a basket of beautiful flowers, and Mrs. Albert, a former chairman, also received a floral basket in appreciation of seven years' yeoman service to the guild. The guild choir, under the leadership of Mrs. R. Lamason, gave two delightful items, and Mrs.' MacDonald, consumer information officer, gave an interesting talk.
