CHAIR OF OBSTETRICS
THE AUCKLAND PROJECT
P.A. DUNEDIN, April 21. "The whole project is worthy of every encouragement, and deserves the enthusiastic support of' the whole Dominion," said Dr. J. B. Dawson, Professor of Midwifery- and Gynaecology at the University of Otago, commenting on the intention to establish a Chair of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the proposed new Auckland hospital for women. "The people of Otago should bear in mind that wheri the Chair of Obstetrics in Dunedin was established in 1930, the people of Auckland contributed very generously to its endowment fund, and the public appeal for £100,000 to be launched in Auckland is an opportunity to recognise that gesture in a reciprocal manner," Dr. Dawson added. "The intention is to utilise the whole unit and the services of its new head for both undergraduate and post-graduate training. It is hoped that when it is fully founded, with adequate modern accommodation, it will serve the need of the Dominion for post-graduate training and provide an opportunity for medical practitioners to obtain periodical courses on modern advances in this branch of medicine." *
