NEW U.S. PRESIDENT
QUALITIES DISPLAYED
Rec. 10.30 a.m. NEW YORK, April 22. During his first week in office„President Truman has shown these important traits: Firmness, vigour, promptness, decision, and confidence m dealing with things new to him, the will to achieve the highest possible degree of bi-partisan unity'and harmonious relations with Congress, and loyalty to the Roosevelt policies, says the "New York Times" commentator Arthur Krock.
He has met .Pressmen, and for the time being they are his. He put the success of the San Francisco Conference, of the unity of the Big Three, Poland, and other controversial matters at the top of his list of objectives, just as they were.at the top of Mr. Roosevelt's list when he died.
Mr. Truman has done what he could to dissipate the idea that he goes about his business in a perpetual state, of humility. . He has behaved not as one who thinks' himself the greatest man in the world, but as a man who means to do the best he can and believes that his best will, be pretty good.
