INDIAN TROOPS' PROGRESS
Rec. 11 a.m. RUGBY, March 14. A Burma communique states that after an advance through the hills east of Mandalay troops of the Nineteenth Indian Division have occupied the hill station of Maymyo and two iarfields at Anisakan, six miles to the south-west. They have also cut the MandalayLashio Road and ambushed a large enemy convoy.
In Mandalay, the Japanese in Fort Dufferin continue to hold out. Fourteenth Army troops have reached the area of the road junction of Myotha, 30 miles south-west of Mandalay. Mobile columns from the Fourth Corps base at Meiktila are striking out vigorously to the north and inflicting heavy casualties. Other Fourth Corps troops continue to make progress towards the oilfield area east of the Irrawaddy.—B.O.W.-
