CITY COUNCIL TRIBUTES
Lamenting the death of Mrs. Fraser, wife of the Prime Minister, the Mayor (Mr. W. Appleton), at last night's meeting of the City Council, said that she was interested in the welfare of the whole community and also in the affairs of the City Council and the Hospital. He moved a resolution regretting her death and appreciating her services to the city.
Councillor M. F. Luckie said that he had had the pleasure of acquaintance with Mrs. Fraser for many years. She was a person of the highest character and high principles.
A motion of deep regret at the death of Mrs. Sprott, wife of the late Bishop Sprott, and recording appreciation of her manifold services, was also passed by the council.
The Mayor said that probably Mrs. Sprott's greatest service was the inauguration of the Mothers' Union in Wellington. She had done a wonderful work in the city over a period ofyears.
Councillor E. M. Gilmer voiced the great appreciation of the work of Mrs. Sprott. The children of Wellington, and, in fact, everyone, had lost a very dear friend and a great helper, she said.
